These bronze plates are hand poured into one single bronze piece together with the patented extrusions and intrusions that bind the finished bronze plate to the later poured concrete base, which Starka produces. The depth of the concrete base defines the final depth of the bronze paving stone. Testing of the bronze paving stones indicates that the strength of the bronze plate exceeds that of the underlying concrete part of the product and of neighboring concrete, although the bronze plate is designed not to break neighboring concrete stones. The bronze paving stone has also been age-tested by the national test institute in Sweden. The bronze paving stone was frozen and unfrozen for 56 days. After that, it was tested to failure through pressure and tensile testing.The test results showed that the bronze paving stones can easily carry traffic by lorries. Since then, the current producer in Sweden has even increased the pressure resistance ability. The raised areas of the bronze paving stone can be expected to polish to a smooth, shiny metal surface over time, depending on the extent of traffic over the stones. Notwithstanding this polishing effect, the bronze paving stone will retain the re-patinated and rougher surface in the recessed areas, providing a significant non-slip surface under normal conditions. Each bronze paving stone is hand poured and handcrafted to exacting specifications. Only first quality handcrafted bronze paving stones are approved for sale and shipment.
